Chinese New Year Parade 2020

The Chinese New Year Parade in Vancouver is a fantastic sight to see! The parade typically takes place in Chinatown on the Sunday following Lunar New Year. In 2022, the parade will probably take place on Sunday, January 22nd. But the exact date is to be confirmed. This 47th Vancouver Chinese New Year Parade will ring in the Year of the Rat on the Chinese Lunar Calendar. It will feature martial arts demonstrations, lion dances, marching bands, cultural dance troupes, and more. The parade will begin at the Millennium Gate on Pender St. It will then disperse along Keefer St. It is one of the biggest cultural celebrations in the city.

As part of the festivities, there are several floats in the parade. The most popular one is the 28-foot Golden Dragon, which requires over 100 people to operate. In 2022, the Chinese New Year Parade will take place on Saturday, February 19. The parade will begin at 5:15pm and will weave through Chinatown before ending at Kearny and Jackson Streets around 8pm. The parade usually ends around 8pm.
