Why You Should Vote at the MTV Video Music Awards

If you’re looking for a reason to vote at the MTV Video Music Awards, then you’ve come to the right place. MTV VMAs honor the best videos and songs of the year, and their voters can help decide which video is the best. Thankfully, the MTV VMAs have dropped the gendered categories this year. Instead of Best Male and Best Female, viewers can simply vote for Artist of the Year instead.

The ceremony will feature an incredible array of musical acts. Fans can also vote for their favorite video, and there’s no better place than the internet. The telecast airs on MTV, so the winners of the Best Video will be announced live during the main telecast. In addition to the nominees for the video categories, there will be a socially-voted category. Votes will be cast by fans through social media, as well as in the voting booth.

This year’s VMA nominees are incredibly strong in the hip-hop category. Young M.A and Kodak are up for Best New Artist, and both artists have been named to XXL’s list of the 25 best projects of the year. Young M.A carried over his 2016 success with Herstory. Be sure to tune in to the MTV Video Music Awards this weekend for the best in hip-hop.

The nominations for the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards were announced on Instagram Live. Kendrick Lamar led the pack with eight nominations, followed by Katy Perry and The Weeknd. Another big category added by MTV this year is “Best Fight Against the System.” This category celebrates videos that have made social issues the subject of their music. And in addition to the video categories, MTV has merged the Best Male and Best Female video nominations into one.

The voting for this year’s VMAs is now open, giving fans one last chance to voice their opinion and vote for their favorite songs and artists. The MTV Video Music Awards will take place at the Forum in Los Angeles on August 27. Fans have had a month to discover new music and artists before the ceremony. Fans can also cast their votes for the Best New Artist category, which is packed with diverse new artists. And, of course, MTV continues to support the LGBTQ community by removing gender-specific categories earlier this year.

The VMAs are broadcast on MTV, so the broadcast is available on Sky Channel 015 and 022. You can also watch it live on MTV in the UK on Sky Channels 015 and 022.
